Institute for Advanced Study and the Allard Pierson Announce Future Heritage Research Residency for Dutch Artists
The Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) and the Allard Pierson (AP) are pleased to introduce the Future Heritage Research Residency, inviting artists and artist collectives residing and working in The Netherlands to join a transformative collaboration. This unique opportunity allows artists to work alongside researchers, curators, and fellow artists for up to 6 months, with a focus on the upcoming Allard Pierson exhibition, "Nature under Pressure," opening in April 2024.
The Future Heritage Research Residency encourages artists to draw inspiration from the extensive AP collections and engage with the exhibition's theme of "Nature under Pressure." Artists with socially concerned and politically engaged art practices are especially welcome, as they contribute to thought-provoking conversations and imagine innovative approaches to heritage and current research.
Selected artists will have access to AP collections and reading rooms, as well as shared office space at IAS. The collaboration includes networking opportunities with researchers and organizational support for activities. Artists will work closely with the AP curatorial team to create impactful and imaginative works.
Through this dynamic residency, IAS and the Allard Pierson aim to foster meaningful interactions between art, research, and heritage, sparking new perspectives and enriching public engagement. Applications for the Future Heritage Research Residency will be accepted until October 1, 2023. To apply and learn more about the residency, including submission guidelines, please visit this page.
