Research Room
Material from the Allard Pierson collections can be consulted in the Research Room. Frequently consulted reference works are also available in the Research Room, and in the Rosenthaliana, Book History and Mennonitica period rooms.
To consult material from the heritage collections of the Allard Pierson (amongst others: manuscripts, printed books, atlases and maps, letters, prints or photographs), please visit the Allard Pierson Reading Room. You can also consult the books from the various reference libraries in the Reading Room.
From 18 August the Reading Room is limited accessible from Tuesday to Thursday from 11.00 to 16.00 for consulting heritage material, however, only on the basis of a reservation. The number of workplaces has been reduced to ten. Visitors are welcome in the Reading Room, but not in other rooms such as the period rooms. The microfiche device may not be used, as may the viewing and log-in PCs. Books from the reference libraries are retrieved by the staff.
Book your workplace in advance!
An (individual) workplace must be reserved in advance. Your reservation must be received by us no later than 9.00 a.m., two working days prior to your planned visit. Reservations will be processed in order of receipt. You will receive a confirmation. If your reservation wishes cannot be met, we will contact you.
You can only use the Reading Room if you have no health problems.
